Junior Analyst – Commercial Real Estate & Distressed Debt

Location: New York City, NY (In-Person Only)
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Managing Partner & Head of Asset Management
Start Date: On or before May 1, 2025

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is not your typical analyst job.

We’re looking for a rare kind of talent—someone sharp, driven, and ready to dive headfirst into high-stakes, real-world real estate. You’ll be working directly with senior leadership on some of the most complex deals in commercial real estate—acquisitions, restructurings, and distressed debt workouts.

You’ll gain exposure that most professionals don’t see until mid-career. You’ll have the opportunity to be in meetings that matter, building models that drive decisions, and helping structure deals alongside institutional players and elite advisors. If you’re hungry, analytical, and want to build something real—this may be your launchpad!

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Financial Modeling & Underwriting
Build and maintain detailed Excel and Argus models for acquisitions, restructurings, and recapitalizations
Analyze leases, rent rolls, operating statements, and capital stack structures
Create pro-formas, stress tests, and return scenarios

  • Research & Due Diligence
Conduct deep market research, comps, and macroeconomic analysis
Review loan documents, third-party reports, and property-level data
Assist with site visits and internal investment memos

  • Investment & Asset Management Support
Support capital structuring, equity/debt analysis, and recapitalization strategies
Track KPIs and asset performance across active investments
Coordinate with brokers, lenders, attorneys, and institutional partners

WHAT YOU CAN MASTER ON THE JOB

• Expert-level modeling and underwriting across all CRE asset classes
• Real-time exposure to distressed assets, workouts, and complex capital stacks
• High-level investment decision-making and structuring
• Mastery of tools like Argus, CoStar, and advanced Excel functions
• Institutional-grade communication and presentation skills

BASELINE REQUIREMENTS (WHO YOU ARE)

✓ 3+ years of full-time experience in commercial real estate, investment banking, private equity, or structured finance
Advanced Excel skills: DCFs, waterfalls, return analysis, and complex capital stacks
Familiarity with all major CRE asset classes: office, retail, industrial, multifamily, hospitality
Ability to read and interpret leases, debt documents, and operating statements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
✓ Bachelor’s degree preferred in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, or a related field
  - Degree requirement may be waived for exceptional candidates with strong experience
Experience with Argus and CoStar is a plus
Exposure to CMBS, distressed assets, or structured finance strongly preferred
